Design better Google Slides

If you’re in any kind of corporate role, the chances are you’re designing and presenting with Google Slides for a number of reasons. Perhaps it’s quarterly sales updates, pitches for budget requests, or even customer facing sales meetings.

Personally I like Google Slides, but it doesn’t exactly have a glowing reputation for being a great design tool. However, that seems to be changing thanks to a number of updates recently, from minor updates to modernise the grab handles for moving objects around, to major updates like the addition of free stock images and other assets built-in.

Alongside those are two things I think you should try:

  1. New, genuinely great templates (which appear instantly on the right-hand side when you go to slides.new)
  2. Building blocks, which are smaller design elements utilising shapes and text that you can easily edit

Here are some examples (there are loads more):

Start using building blocks in your designs

  1. Open an existing presentation or create a new one by visiting slides.new
  2. Click the building blocks icon on the toolbar at the right-hand side of the screen
  3. Click a category to view all elements or click on an element you see to insert it

It really is that simple! Got ideas about how to use these assets, or have another question about Google Slides? Drop it in the comments below…

See you in a week for the next one!
